2024-25 Tour Results

The first Alberta Stick Curling Bonspiel this season was held at the Ellerslie Curling Club on Nov 2, 2024.

This was the Ron Currie Stick Bonspiel. Thanks to Tiffany Game, Manager of the Ellerslie Curling Club  for hosting this event.

Sixteen teams competed and each team played three games.  Two teams went undefeated in the event.
Jeff and Sandy Kaufman of St. Albert  defeated Randy Olson and Stacy Burzminski of St. Albert in one A final.  
RoyToftleland and Peter Nepstad of Ellerslie defeated Gary Iskiw and Glenn Kennedy of Ellerslie in the other A final.

The 2nd event on the tour was held Sunday, Nov 10th at the St. Albert Curling Club.  This was the Ruby Olson Memorial Stick Bonspiel with 24 teams competing in this “Stakes” spiel. Teams were divided into groups of 4.  Four teams went undefeated – Tony vanbrabant/Terri MacIntyre, Mike and Mary Holden, Cindy Bobowik/Debbie Kalynuk of St. Albert and Bob Pisatcky/Ken Petteplace of Grande Prairie.

Randy Olson and Ken Monk scored a 6 ender during the bonspiel.

The 3rd event on the tour was held Saturday, Dec 7 at the Spruce Grove Curling Club.  12 teams competed in this “Stakes” spiel. One team went undefeated – Ed Willson and Terry Smith of Spruce Grove. Ed Cruse and Stacy Burzminski finished second, Jeff and Sandy Kaufman finished third and Rick McKague and Reg Reinhardt placed fourth.

The 4th event on the tour was held Saturday, Dec 14 at the Crestwood Curling Club. 16 teams completed in this pay-as-you-win event. Randy Olson and John Cabaj defeated Roy Tofteland and Peter Nepstad of Ellerslie in the final.  Semi-finalists were Brenda Eger and Rhonda Evanoff of St. Albert and Dan Sherrard and Brandon Klassen of Crestwood.

The 5th Event on the tour was held at the Legal Curling Club on Dec 27.  16 teams competed in a stakes spiel.  First place went to Ryan Meyers and Denis Fitzgerald of Morinville. Second place was Tom Steele and Rod Chmiliar of St. Albert.  Third place went to Reg Reinhardt and Rick McKague of Crestwood and fourth place was Walter and Susan Kwak of St. Albert

The 6th event on the tour was held in Grande Prairie on Jan 11. 32 teams competed in the stakes spiel. Seven teams went 3-0. Two teams tied with the most money won. Eldon and Marie Lee and Belle Thomas and Janet Gummer were the top money winners.
